| Description: | Our client is seeking a senior software engineer to take on the role of team leader over its architecture group. The architecture team is responsible for measuring and improving application performance, overseeing the implementation, deployment, and best use of software technology, as well as charting strategic technology direction for the entire suite of back office applications. As the leader of this team you will be responsible to: - maintain a 1- and 3-year technical strategy plan for the derivatives back office development group, informed by your expert knowledge in latest software technology, languages, tools, practices and trends. - create software technology best-use strategies to guide ongoing application development. - document and communicate these strategies to application development teams and managers - host knowledge transfer sessions where new technologies or best practices are presented - keep abreast of latest enterprise software technology trends for recommendation, education, or incorporation into the technical footprint of the back office application suite - ensure compliance and consistency of backoffice architecture with larger bank architectural objectives and mandates - contribute to the architectural design and ensure architectural soundness of major backoffice application development initiatives - maintain ongoing consistency and conformance of backoffice applications to our architectural objectives - suggest process changes (development, deployment, project, or support) necessary to improve and maintain architectural consistency and excellence. - lead team of performance engineers to measure, document, and improve performance of all backoffice applications. Required Skills/Experience: Extremely strong analytical skills 8+ years enterprise software development experience with proven track record of delivery 6+ years hands on experience building Java Enterprise applications 6+ years hands on experience with core Java server-side technologies: EJB, JDBC, JMS 6+ years hands on experience with Sybase, Oracle or RDBMS equivalent 6+ years hands on experience with a major Java enterprise application server (e.g. Weblogic, Websphere) 3+ years team management experience 2+ years hands on O/R mapping or similar technology (e.g. Toplink, Hibernate, EJB 3.0 persistence) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable driving consensus and technological advocacy across the enterprise Driven to learn and use latest enterprise software technology to bring best-of-class solutions to market |
