| Description: | Play an integral role in building and enhancing the infrastructure required to support the platform(s) or set of applications, in terms of robustness, scalability, availability and efficiency. Work with engineers and business analysts to ensure development support the business needs. Responsible for ensuring that the engineered environment meets the specifications in terms of business requirements, application design and infrastructure requirements i.e. accountable for the performance and efficiency of platforms. The successful candidate will function as part of a team tasked with injecting sound architecture design onto existing platforms. As such the candidate will also be responsible for the following activities: •Providing architectural thought leadership on service oriented architectures and service based design and integration. •Guiding development teams on appropriate usage of SOA technologies and driving adoption through effective solutions. •Hands-on in the development of high-performance, scalable integrations using these technologies. •Provide expertise to development teams working from various locations on application development processes, technical architecture, and systems integration. This expertise should also extend to providing detailed guidance at the level of code as required. •Lead technical performance assessment of systems, applications, and databases (must have a strong track record of performance tuning distributed systems and applications across a wide array of technology platforms) •Work with project leads and business analysts to define product development tasks, proactively identify and resolve issues, and provide status. •Perform research and development to evaluate emerging technologies and their potential to optimize the platform. •Responsible for setting up and driving architectural design and code reviews. •Provide guidance on capacity planning and performance tuning. •Provide in-depth consulting on design of development projects. •Provide guidance and support on production issues as needed. Experience •Must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field (or has equivalent work experience). 8-10 years of technical experience or equivalent. •Require advanced level knowledge and understanding of architecture, applications systems design and integration in a large heterogeneous enterprise environment with a detailed understanding of applicable programming methodologies. •Experience working with a multi-tiered architecture with proven ability in developing, delivering and in performance tuning of such architectures. •Extensive experience with architecture, design and implementation of J2EE applications and/or legacy applications with Application Servers know-how. •Experience required in OOAD and with object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, Ruby, Python, Perl, and C# •Familiarity with SOA technologies and underlying architectural concepts. •Experience in ORM techniques and tools like TopLink, Hibernate, JDO, etc. •Experience with caching, messaging and other architectures. •Experience working on the Unix, Solaris, Linux, and Windows platforms. Exposure to multiple platforms is a plus. •Extensive experience using a systems analysis and design methodology. •Familiar with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF. |
